This year our church family has been encouraged to “Tell the Story,” and as your pastor, I pray our stories would be founded upon His magnificent and eternal story. Therefore, in cooperation with the vision and mission of our congregation, the leadership of First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg has proposed a capital campaign to enhance the storytelling opportunities of our congregation deep into the future.
“Telling the Story… Touching the Future” is the theme of our 2007-2010 capital campaign. The goal of this campaign is to raise approximately $10 million through the prayerful and sacrificial gifts of our storytellers. A sacrificial gift is one that not only affects the giver’s lifestyle, but is also over and above any regular ministry gifts. A sacrificial gift actually costs the giver something, like the widow who “gave all she had” (Luke 21:4). A sacrificial gift allows the giver to testify using the words of King David who said he would not give to God offerings that “cost me nothing” (2 Samuel 24:24). A sacrificial gift is not presented out of one’s abundance, but out of one’s faith. God expects equal sacrifice, not equal gifts.
Our building project will be composed of four main elements:
Our new additions and upgrades will give us greater ministry opportunities to children, students and adults. I am confident that these various projects and programs will benefit our entire fellowship and help us to tell the story more effectively.
I have never been more excited and thankful to be your pastor. You are a wonderful church and it is a pleasure to serve with you. I believe we are ready for this great opportunity and challenge. Please join me in praying that God will give us the strength and commitment to take the step of faith He has for each of us. May God continue to help us tell the story and build a living history as we carry the torch of Christ’s light in our Jerusalem and to the ends of the earth.
His and Yours,
Michael S. Hamlet
Senior Pastor
