It has been said, “If we don’t win the children, we lose the future.” Studies show that 80% of all Americans who accept Christ do so before the age of 18. As a result, each person connected with the ministry to children at First Baptist North Spartanburg understands the enormity of the task. Yet seeing this vast local mission field is only part of the challenge before this congregation. In his book, Surprising Insights from the Unchurched, Dr. Thom S. Rainer wrote, “Many unchurched people measure the quality of a church by the quality of childcare.” Thus, here at First North it is not enough to merely recognize the need of the masses outside the doors, but it is critical that adequate preparation be made to minister inside the doors with a manner of excellence which glorifies Christ.
As such, the “Telling the Story...Touching the Future” campaign will provide major resources for renovations and improvements to the Preschool and Children’s area. These expenditures will create space and resources not only for the children, but also for parents who desire to raise their young ones in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Even families of those who do not regularly attend our church will benefit from the whole life focus of this area of ministry. It is important that the ministry to children and preschoolers reflect the quality of our entire church ministry.
“We want to introduce children to the excitement and adventure of a life that is dedicated to serving God by teaching them in fun and engaging ways which will stick with them as they grow. We want our children to be glad to come to church because it is fun and exciting, and they never really know what will happen next in KidZone!!”Doug Turner - Children's Minister
