My Giving Potential
3 Steps to Determine My Faith
Commitment
- Pray In My Utmost for His Highest, the Rev. Oswald Chambers wrote:
"Prayer is not simply getting things from God . . . prayer is
getting into perfect communion with God." Before you make
a decision about what to give, please make the journey in prayer. Ask God what He would
have you give to help make this vision a reality. Pray, and wait patiently upon Him to show
you His plan for your family.
- Leave Room for Faith Once God impresses you to give a certain amount over and above your regular gift amount
to First North, believe that He will provide! Understand that the amount is often greater
than any identifiable or known resource, yet, in faith, we ought to expect a miracle.
- Give Sacrificially A sacrificial gift is one that affects lifestyle - it is a gift that actually costs the giver something.
Remember the widow's mite who gave "all she had to live on." Others gave more money,
but Jesus said these only gave out of their abundance, while He commended the widow
for giving "more than all the others." (Luke 21:1-3). King David expressed the sincere heart
of sacrificial giving when he said that he would not give to God any type of offering "that
cost me nothing" (2 Samuel 24:24). A sacrificial gift is regular giving and then some under
the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It requires reassessment of our spending and life-style and
readjustment of our priorities.
A little consistency builds into a sizeable amount. Each of us can give far more than we think possible by giving it over a three year period. Here are some examples . . .
